Abstract
An image information recording apparatus is arranged to record compressed image information within a predetermined section of a recording tape extending from a beginning of the tape, to record non-compressed image information in another section located after the predetermined section, and to record, also within the predetermined section, positional information indicative of a position where the non-compressed image information which corresponds to the compressed image information is recorded on the tape, so that all recorded images are quickly graspable and any of the non-compressed images thus can be quickly extracted. Further, in recording image information of a plurality of kinds, a non-recorded area of a tape-shaped recording medium is divided and a divided recording area thus obtained is allocated to some of the image information of different kinds, so that the tape-shaped recording medium can be efficiently used.
