A safety sensor mechanism ( ) for a rotary sterilizer ( ) including a slider plate ( ) positioned in the revolving path of cans ( ) and movable away from a discharge opening ( ) of the sterilizer. The safety mechanism includes slider bars ( ) and tubular housings ( ) with coil springs ( ) for creating a spring-loaded slider plate that yields if engaged by a misaligned can that does not proper eject from the sterilizer.
