Abstract
A device ( ) and a method for reading information stored in a phosphor layer ( ) is disclosed. The device ( ) includes a transparent carrier material ( ) on which the phosphor layer ( ) to be read is disposed. A radiation source ( ) emits an excitation radiation ( ) to excite the phosphor layer ( ), which in turn emits an emission radiation ( ). The emission radiation ( ) can be received by a receiver ( ). The radiation source ( ) is arranged on one side of the transparent carrier material ( ), whereas the receiver ( ) is arranged on the other side of the transparent carrier material ( ), thereby defining an optical path between the radiation source ( ) and the receiver ( ). According to the invention, a reflective layer ( ) for reflecting at least a portion of the excitation radiation ( ) is arranged in the optical path.
