Abstract

An improved method for regenerating ion exchange resin in a treatment tank having a flow direction, which includes the steps of providing a supply of regenerant under pressure into the tank, and introducing the regenerant into the tank in an opposite flow direction to the treatment flow direction. In the preferred embodiment, the regenerant is a combination of CO which is mixed with water to form carbonic acid and citric acid. This mixture is then introduced into the treatment tank without storage.
