Abstract
Picture signals entering a picture input device are compressed by a picture compression device for storing the resulting compressed picture data in a secondary storage device via a primary storage device . The picture compression system is switched for recording a moving picture and for recording a still picture by switching picture compression parameters of the picture compression device by a picture compression system switching device between those for moving picture recording and those for still picture recording.
