Abstract
A sliding rail anchor assembly ( ) includes a pair of anchor subassemblies ( ) that latch together to slidably engage the crown ( ) of a “rail” ( ). Each anchor subassembly ( ) includes a hook engaging portion ( ) and a rail engaging portion ( ). The hook engaging portion carries an inboard “post” ( ) and forms a hook engaging aperture ( ) and an inboard post receiving aperture ( ). When the anchor subassemblies ( ) are properly aligned and laterally moved together so that the hook engaging portions ( ) abut, each inboard post ( ) is received by the post receiving aperture ( ) in the other anchor subassembly ( ). Each anchor subassembly ( ) also includes a latch ( ) which engages the “head” ( ) of the opposing inboard post ( ) extending through the post receiving aperture ( ). When a safety hook ( ) engages hook receiving apertures ( ) the latches ( ) are held in their fully latched positions. A sliding rail anchor fall-arrest system ( ) includes an anchor assembly ( ) as described above, a safety hook ( ), a safety harness ( ) worn by the worker and a flexible cable ( ) extending between the hook ( ) and the harness ( ).
