Abstract

A turbine shaft, in particular for a steam turbine, is oriented along an axis of rotation. The turbine shaft has a first region with a maximum radius R and a second region adjoining the first region and having a maximum radius R2>R1. The first region includes a first base material for use at a temperature of over 550° C. and the second region includes a second base material for use at a temperature below 550° C. An alloy steel used for the first and the second base materials in each case has a chromium content of between 8.0% by weight and 12.5% by weight at a substantially identical austenitizing temperature. A method is provided for producing the turbine shaft.
