Abstract
The present invention relates to a method and a device for surveillance of the rearward observation area, specific to the outside mirror(s) of motor vehicles, in which the aforesaid observation area is divided into at least two observation zones ( ) that are detected using at least one image pick-up sensor element and the detected image is displayed on a display device ( ) thus providing an improved rearward view with fewer gaps (blind spots), wherein the observation zones ( ) cover different angular ranges.
