Abstract

Genomic and cDNA sequences and plant expression vectors encoding for an arabidopsis AHAS small subunit protein are disclosed. The DNA sequences and vectors are used to transform plants to produce transgenic plants which possess elevated levels of tolerance or resistance to herbicides, such as imidazolinones.
