Abstract
A master cylinder having a body ( ) pierced with a bore ( ) that is partially closed by a guide ring ( ). A piston ( ) mounted to slide in the guide ring ( ) and bore ( ) to define a pressure chamber ( ) within the bore ( ). An inlet ( ) having a filling duct ( ) which connects the bore ( ) with a source of hydraulic fluid having a low pressure when the piston ( ) is in a position of rest. The filling duct ( ) is located between a flared portion ( ) of the bore ( ) and a front edge ( ) of a ring ( ) which slides in the body ( ) between the guide ring ( ) and pressure chamber ( ). The piston ( ) and sliding ring ( ) have respective a first stop ( ) and a second stop ( ) which allows the piston ( ) to drive the sliding ring ( ) along when the piston returns to a position of rest. When an input force is applied to move the piston ( ) within the bore ( ), a spring ( ) acts on and urges the ring ( ) away from the guide ring ( ) to seal the filling duct ( ) while protecting a sealing collar ( ) carried by the piston ( ) from damage that could occur by moving past the filling duct ( ).
