Abstract

Technology for controlling consumables for color printers to prevent the mere recording agent of a specific color from being excessively consumed. In this technology, when the printer is used, the system detects the residual ink volume of each color, and replaces an original color with another color by performing color conversion (image synthesis) on an image data by means of a prescribed processing method if a biased ink consumption exceeds a prescribed value, thus restricting the use of the particular ink before it is used up.
