Abstract

An active noise control system ( ) which generates via an electronic controller ( ) a canceling signal(s) which are responsive to a signal from an error sensor(s) ( ) to drive a speaker ( ) or array of speakers. Each speaker ( ) is contained within an enclosure ( ) and is inversely and rigidly mounted therein. The enclosure ( ) attaches to the trim panels ( ) attached to the closed structure ( ) and the canceling sound wave form is directed primarily toward the interior surface ( ) of the trim ( ). Preferably, the speaker(s) ( ) are flexibly suspended with mounts ( ) to the trim ( ). The enclosure ( ) preferably includes planar wave guide means such as escapeways ( ) for initially directing the canceling sound wave form (anti-noise) in a plane substantially parallel to the surface of the trim ( ).
