Abstract
A tractor ( ) for unloading a trailer ( ) from a railcar ( ) is disclosed. The tractor ( ) comprises a trigger actuator ( ) and a bumper ( ). The trigger actuator ( ) is fixably mounted to the tractor ( ) and remains stationary. The bumper ( ) of the tractor ( ) may be operated between an extended position and a retracted position. When the bumper ( ) is in the extended position and the tractor ( ) is adjacent to a stanchion ( ), the trigger actuator ( ) does not engage the trigger of the stanchion ( ). When the bumper ( ) is in the retracted position and the tractor ( ) is adjacent to the stanchion ( ), the trigger actuator ( ) engages the trigger ( ) of the stanchion ( ) to operate the stanchion ( ) from the raised position to the lowered position, thereby transferring the trailer ( ) from the stanchion ( ) to the tractor ( ).
