Abstract

The present specification describes an actuating lever ( ) for a disc brake ( ), having a cam section ( ) with a part cylindrical curved surface ( ) and a part cylindrical channel ( ) with an elongate cylindrical force transmitting member ( ) located therein and being parallel to the longitudinal axis of the said part cylindrical surface ( ), and having opposite end regions which are located in recesses ( ) formed in the lever ( ) at opposite ends of the said channel ( ) to thus retain the force transmitting member ( ) in position on the lever ( ). The cam section ( ) engages a mating curved support surface ( ) on a cover plate ( ) and is pivotal about said support surface ( ), the lever ( ) and cover plate ( ) forming a modular assembly for a disc brake, the cover plate ( ) being, in use, secured to a clamp member ( ) of a disc brake ( ), the force transmitting member ( ) then engaging a tappet ( ) which can exert force on a friction pad ( ) when the lever ( ) is pivoted about the support surface ( ).
