Abstract

A Villari effect seatbelt tension sensor comprises a sensor housing having a plunger chamber and a tongue head flange chamber therein. The two chambers and are separated by a radial flange extending therebetween defining a passage connecting the chambers. A Villari effect sensor is disposed axially within the sensor housing and is secured on one end to a plunger disposed within the plunger chamber and secured on the opposite end to a tongue head flange disposed within the tongue head flange chamber A tongue connected by a shaft to the tongue head flange has a slot therein for securing a seatbelt thereto.
