A process for preparing a compound of formula (IV), wherein R,is C,alkyl, CH,(C,haloalkyl), benzyl, CH,(C,akenyl or CH,(C,alkynyl), which comprises reducing a compound of formula (III). Compounds of formula (IV) are agrochemical intermediates.
