The invention relates to dipyrrometheneboron difluoride-substituted nucleotides substituted by a dipyrrometheneboron difluoride label on a phosphate moiety. The nucleotides of the invention are useful in fluorescence assays, including protein binding assays and assays for hydrolase enzymes.
