Abstract

A fuel pump (,) is driven by a marine engine (,) for pumping fuel from a fuel tank (,) to the internal combustion engine (,). A cooling jacket (,) is disposed about the fuel pump (,) and is in sealing engagement with the fuel pump (,) to form a cooling chamber (,) about the fuel pump (,). The cooling jacket (,) has a water inlet (,) for admitting cooling water to the cooling chamber (,). A water pump (,) is driven by the engine (,) for supplying environmental water to the water inlet (,) of the cooling jacket (,). A pickup (,) is connected to the water pump (,) for supplying environmental marine water to the water pump (,), i.e., the pickup (,) is disposed in the water in which the watercraft is buoyed. The cooling jacket (,) has a water outlet (,) for dumping water from the cooling chamber (,) back to the environmental marine water, i.e., the water outlet (,) is disposed to dump cooling water into the same water in which the watercraft is buoyed.
