Abstract
A remote telephone testing device (,) includes a transmitter (,), a receiver (,), a controller (,) and a test circuit (,). In response to the receiver (,) receiving a test signal from a test system (,) via a telephone network (,), the controller (,) communicatively isolates telephone equipment (,) of a subscriber (S) from the telephone network (,) and connects the test circuit (,) to the telephone equipment (,). The test circuit (,) tests the telephone equipment (,) and conveys one or more results of such test to the controller (,) which relays the one or more results to the test system (,) via the transmitter (,). When testing is complete, the telephone equipment (,) is isolated from the test circuit (,) and is communicatively connected to the telephone network (,).
