Abstract

A valance assembly (,) for a merchandising fixture (,) includes a bracket (,) positioned at both longitudinal ends of the valance assembly (,) and adapted to be connected to the fixture (,). An arm (,) is pivotally carried by each bracket (,), and a panel (,) extends between the arms (,). The panel (,) is formed with a nose (,) at one lateral edge thereof and an attachment assembly (,) along the other lateral edge thereof. The longitudinal edges of the nose (,) and the attachment assembly (,) are received in a hollowed-out area (,) formed in each of the arms (,), and the panel (,) is connected to the arms (,) at that location. Each bracket (,) includes a flexible arm (,) having a notch (,) therein. Each arm (,) includes a cam surface (,) having a lug (,) formed thereon. When the arms (,) are pivoted relative to the brackets (,) to move the panel (,) from a generally vertical orientation to a generally horizontal orientation, the cam surface (,) deflects the flexible arms (,) until the lug (,) is received in the notch (,) which thereby holds the panel (,) in the horizontal orientation.
