Abstract
After a sacrifice layer, has been formed on a substrate,, there are formed a protective layer,, flying surface layer,, head element layer, and actuator layer,. Further, a slider body,is formed by means of plating, and then the sacrifice layer,is removed so that the slider body can be separated from the substrate,. In the thus obtained magnetic head slider,, when an actuator,is loaded or unloaded, a frictional force, generated when the head element,is made to come close to or contact with a recording medium, is reduced and the head element, can accurately follow a track on the recording medium. A portion of the head element layer, forms at least one protrusion, which protrudes from a surface opposed to the recording medium onto the recording medium side.
