Abstract
A superabrasive tool such as a superabrasive grindstone (,), a superabrasive dresser (,) or a superabrasive lap surface plate (,) includes a base (,) of steel and a superabrasive layer (,) formed on the base (,). The superabrasive layer (,) includes superabrasive grains (,) consisting of diamond grains, cubic boron nitride grains or the like and a holding layer consisting of a nickel plating layer (,) and a bond layer (,), or a brazing filler metal layer (,), holding the superabrasive grains (,) and fixing the same onto the base (,). Grooves (,) or holes (,) are formed on flat surfaces (,) of the superabrasive grains (,) exposed from the holding layer (,). The holding layer (,) holding and fixing the superabrasive grains (,) so that the surfaces of the grains are partially exposed is formed on the base (,). The grooves (,) or the holes (,) are formed by irradiating the surfaces of the superabrasive grains (,) exposed from the holding layer (,) with a laser beam (,). Working of high accuracy can be performed by forming the grooves (,) or the holes (,) on the surfaces of the superabrasive grains (,).
