Abstract

A high power magnetostrictive transducer element comprising a material of the formula Tb,Dy,Ho,Fe,wherein 0.24≦x≦0.28, 0.52≦y≦0.56, 0.13≦z≦0.22, x+y+z=1, and 0≦w≦0.20 and wherein the material is prestressed by a compressive force of from about 5 to about 100 MPa.
