Abstract

The invention relates to a welding device operating by laser for two workpieces (,) to be connected to one another via a self-contained, continuously extending weld seam (N). The welding device comprises a focusing optical system (,) having a seam follow-up sensor (,) and is borne by a pivoting arm (,), so that the focussing optical system (,) describes a circular path in relation to the workpieces (,). The positioning of the focusing optical system (,) on the pivoting arm (,) is corrected by means of a drive (,) in dependence on the measuring result of the seam follow-up sensor (,).
