Abstract
A cation exchange resin preparation in the dosage form of dry syrups and the like which comprises a cation exchange resin such as polystyrene calcium sulfonate and a gelleing agent such as carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC-Na), and may further comprises a binder such as hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC). The preparation gelates and/or swells without disintegration for a few tens seconds to a minute or so when taken as suspensions in water or the preparation, per se. Therefore, the sandy feel in the mouth and throat, which is a problem in taking the preparation comprising a cation exchange resin alone, is reduced and the taste and easiness in oral administration are both improved.
