Abstract

A system for compressing one or more fluids (F,, F,) with one of the fluids being essentially gaseous. A single-phase compression unit (,) is fed gaseous fluid (F,) from a delivery line (,). A multiphase compression unit (,) receives both fluids (F,, F,). A delivery line (,) delivers gaseous fluid to the multiphase compression unit and a delivery line (,) feeds the other fluid F,to the multiphase compression unit (,). A discharge line connects to the multiphase compression unit. The single phase compression unit allows operation of the multiphase compression unit within a two-phase efficiency range.
