Abstract

A carrier for extracting bacteria is formed by a material body having a plurality of pores with no DNA. The pores are 5 to 100 &mgr;m in mean pore diameter, and at least 5 &mgr;m in depth. Bacteria enter the pores of the carrier for extracting bacteria buried in a sampling site and inhabit therein. After a lapse of a prescribed time, the carrier for extracting bacteria is taken out and washed for removing large-sized foreign matter. Further, the carrier for extracting bacteria is crushed to liberate the bacteria.
