Abstract

On printer (,), tape cartridge (,) is detachable relative to mounting unit (,). Mounting unit (,) is covered by cover (,). When cover (,) is closed, its protrusion (,) rotates rotary component (,), and its operating edge (,) moves moving component (,). When operating edge (,) moves over the top edge of surface A of guiding surface (,) of the moving component, the cover is completely closed. Subsequently, rotary component (,) is guided to surface B, where it is held in a coupled state. In conjunction with moving component (,), head carrier component (,) rotates, and head (,) located at the tip of the head carrier component becomes fixed at the print position. In the condition in which a print position is formed, rotary component (,) is off from protrusion (,) of the cover. Therefore, no load acts from the side of head (,) onto the side of cover (,). When cover-opening button (,) is pushed down, rotary component (,) disengages from surface B of the moving component, thus creating a condition in which the head has been released.
