Abstract

A novel temperature sensor having a radial-type thermistor and a method of fabrication thereof are disclosed. A pair of electrode wires, are embedded in a spaced relation from each other substantially in parallel to the axis,of a cylindrical thermistor,, and have an end, thereof led out toward an end,of the cylinder of the thermistor,. A pair of core wires (signal lines),arranged in spaced relation from each other substantially in parallel to the cylinder axis, are led out from the outer cylinder,of a two-core pipe, and are connected to an end,of each electrode wire,. The wires, are overlapped in such a manner that the diagonal K,connecting the electrode wires, crosses the diagonal K,connecting the signal lines,on the cylinder axis,, and coupled to each other by laser welding. In this way, the rod-like electrode wire pair led out of the thermistor in the same direction is connected to the signal line pair, thus securing the coupling reliability between the electrode wires and the signal lines while at the same time reducing the size of the temperature detecting portion.
