Abstract
A switching device is provided having an optimally used arcing chamber. To this end, a lower arc runner plate extends into a space located behind the arcing chamber, and an upper arc runner plate is positioned off from this space by an appropriate design of an insulating strip of the arcing chamber (,). The insulating strip is provided with projecting tabs for this purpose.
