Abstract

A chuck,includes a body,having a plurality of angularly spaced ribs,and,formed in a forward cylindrical opening,thereof. A locking element,is movable within a passage,of the body,and is formed with a defined portion,which is extendable from the passage,through an inboard peak surface,of the rib,and into the opening,An actuator,is coupled to the locking element,and is biased by a spring,to urge normally the defined portion,of the locking element into the opening,A bit,is formed with a shank,with three grooves,and,extending axially to a free end,thereof. A pocket,is formed in a base of each of the grooves,and,The bit,can be manually inserted into the opening,of the chuck,such that the grooves,and,are located drivingly over at least portions of the ribs,and,respectively.
