Abstract

The invention concerns a cutting insert (,) for drilling. Said cutting insert (,) has a substantially rhomboid basic shape and its four cutting edges (,), which each form cutting corners (,), are broken, two first opposite cutting edges (,) each having cutting edge sections (,) which form an obtuse angle (&egr;,) of between 140 and <180&deg;. The two second opposite cutting edges (,) have a constriction, such that two cutting edge sections (,) forming an angle (&egr;,) of >180&deg; and 230&deg; are produced. The invention further concerns a drill, wherein at least two of said cutting inserts are disposed on the front face of the shank, each disposed in a recess. The radially outer cutting insert has a concave active cutting edge and the radially inner cutting insert has a convex active cutting edge.
