Abstract

In a sensor (,), firstly two sections (,) of a steering shaft (,) are connected by means of a torsion rod (,) which bears a measuring cell (,). For the purpose of protection against overloading, the sensor (,) has a rotary angle limiter (,) which is formed by parting lines (,) which run in the manner of a step longitudinally and transversely, in the housing (,), which is initially connected to the sections (,) and the torsion rod (,). By this means, the torsion rod (,) can be rotated to a limited extent with respect to the housing (,) of the sensor (,), the rotary angle difference being determined by the width of the longitudinally extending parting line (,). As a result, the rotary angle limiter (,) is largely independent of dimensional deviations during installation and, even at low rotary angle differences, permits the exact determination of the rotary forces applied.
