An image display apparatus including a display unit,having a plurality of pixels, lighting controlling means,and,for controlling a time for lighting the pixels on the display unit,within a predetermined time in order to display a multiple-gradation image, and correcting means,and,for correcting the lighting time controlled by the lighting controlling means,and,. Even when characteristic dispersion per pixel of the display unit,is large, characteristic dispersion between image display apparatuses can be restrained.
