Abstract
Intercalation compositions having spinel structures with crystallites of metal oxides (M,O,) dispersed throughout the structure are provided having the general formula Li,M,Mn,O,. Methods of producing the intercalation compositions and rechargeable lithium batteries containing the compositions are also provided.
