Abstract
The present invention provides a fiber optic connector which allows easy and secure assembly with a fiber optic cable, a supporting member used therein, and a method of assembling the fiber optic connector to the fiber optic cable. A member (,) which is used to fasten reinforcing members (,) extending from the fiber optic cable (,) is disposed in the vicinity of a rear end of an inner housing (,) of fiber optic connector (,). A supporting member (,) is fastened by crimping to an end portion of the fiber optic cable (,). An appropriate stripping operation is performed on the end portion of the fiber optic cable (,) so that optical fiber (,) and the reinforcing members (,) are exposed. Recesses (,), which hold the reinforcing members are located in the supporting member (,). When optical fiber (,) of the fiber optic cable (,) is accommodated in a ferrule (,), the supporting member (,) is caused to engage a rear end of the inner housing (,); the reinforcing members (,) are disposed along member (,) of housing (,) whereafter they are fastened to member (,) by crimping sleeve (,) onto member (,).
