Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus for machining workpieces (W,to W,) by stock removal, in particular the main (a,to a,) and/or connecting rod bearing journals (b,to b,) of crankshafts. For this purpose the apparatus is equipped with at least two guideways (,) which are distanced from one another and are arranged parallel with respect to one another and on which at least one workpiece fixture (,) holding a workpiece (W,to W,) each can be moved from a transfer position (P,P,) to a working position (A,to A,), and with two discoid cutters (,) of which each can be moved on a cutter guideway (,), which is arranged between the guideways (,), from a first working position (A,, A,, A,) in which it works on the workpiece (W,, W,) held by the first workpiece fixture (,) to a second working position (A,, A,) in which it works on the workpiece (W,, W,) held by the second workpiece fixture (,). The apparatus in accordance with the invention allows performing the machining with high precision of the workpieces.
