Abstract

A display unit, in particular in a vehicle, has a display (,.) which can be transilluminated by a transilluminating device (,) in a prescribed direction. Light launched from a light source (,) into an optical conductor (,) is aligned by a first optical element (,) and deflected into a prescribed direction by a second, displaceably arranged optical element (,). As a result, an image on the display (,) is to be detected exclusively from a viewing angle region in which the display (,) is transilluminated.
