Abstract
A Christmas tree (,) is based on a dual bore sub-sea test tree. The Christmas tree consists of a Christmas tree housing (,), which connects to a wellhead (,), a Christmas tree valve block assembly (,) disposed in the housing (,) and a tree cap (,) which connects to the housing (,) and valve block assembly (,). In a preferred embodiment the valve block assembly (,) has a main production bore (,) with two valves (,) in series and two auxiliary bores (,). One auxiliary bore (,) has a valve (,) for facilitating control of the annulus bore (,) whereas the other annulus bore (,) has no valve and provides a pathway for an electrical submersible cable (,) to a pump. The valves (,) are actuatable via control from an umbilical (,) and provide the facility to seal the production and annulus access bores to meet statutory requirements. A tubing hanger is not required.
