Abstract
Disclosed herein is a luer connector which exhibits an improved engagement force, in comparison to a standard luer connector, when a fluid contaminant is present between the contact surfaces of mated luer fitments. The luer connector of the present invention comprises a textured contact surface which is adapted to trap or channel fluid contaminants away from the contact surfaces of mated luer fitments. Also disclosed herein is a method of making a luer connector with a textured contact surface.
