A programmable electronic start-up delay for delaying the start-up of refrigeration units (,) for a user-programmable variable delay period. The delay permits a group of refrigeration units all powered by the same source (,) to be restarted at different time intervals after a power failure to prevent overloading of the power source or associated circuitry.
