Abstract
A method and apparatus for diagnosing excessive resistance in an electrical harness of an internal combustion engine. Voltage is applied from a power source (,) through contacts (,) and harness leads (,and,) to an electrical assembly (,). Electrical assembly (,) includes the load of a first electrical component (,), and by switching means (,) includes the electrical load of a second electrical component (,). An electronic control module (,or,) controls switching means (,) and compares the voltage drop across electrical assembly (,) when the second electrical component (,) is switched in or out. By comparing the voltage drops ECM (,or,) can determine if there is excessive resistance in the contacts (,) or leads (,and,).
