A method for communication between a dispatch center (,) and a plurality of wireless communication devices (,) within a vehicle dispatch system (,). The method includes receiving a request for dispatch (,) including an assignment location (,). An assignment message (,) including a first criteria paremeter (,) and a location parameter (,) is sent to the plurality of wireless communication devices (,). Each wireless communication device (,) receives the assignment message (,) including the first criteria parameter (,) and the location parameter (,), compares the location parameter (,) with a current location (,) using the first criteria parameter (,), transmit a reply (,) to the dispatch center (,) in response to the detection of an affirmative match.
