Abstract
The invention relates to an interworking function and a data transmission method in a mobile network comprising transparent data services employing different rates and bearer services. The interworking function (IWF) is connected, in an end-to-end data connexion, between a transparent traffic channel leg in the mobile network and a traffic channel leg in the fixed telecommunication network. If the fixed network traffic channel leg utilizes a higher data rate (R,) than the mobile network transparent traffic channel leg (R,), the interworking function (IWF) buffers data in a data buffer (,) and uses flow control towards the fixed network. This enables the mobile network to support towards the fixed network a nominal user rate that is higher than the highest nominal user rate in the mobile network.
