Abstract
An airbag module for arrangement in motor vehicle steering wheels has a cup-shaped generator carrier (,) and a covering cap (,). The generator carrier (,) consists of a shaped sheet metal section with a side wall (,) aligned parallel to the steering wheel axis (,). A plurality of outwardly angled tabs (,) are provided on the upper rim of the side wall (,). A rectangular opening (,) is arranged in the side wall (,) beneath each tab. Further, a bending tongue (,) connected with the side wall (,) is provided each beneath opening (,). The covering cap (,) consists of plastic and has a surrounding side wall (,) with slits (,) that is fitted externally against the side wall (,) of the generator carrier (,). The side wall (,) has radial openings (,) for engagement of the tabs (,) and radially inwardly directed integral projections (,) each of which when fitted against the side wall (,) of the generator carrier (,) rests on a lower rim of a opening (,) of the side wall (,).
