Press transfer-electrical interconnect

Abstract

A transfer assembly for moving work pieces through a press which includes a hollow transfer bar (,) and a motion transmitting mechanism (,) moves the transfer bar (,) inward, outward, and longitudinally for transferring work pieces through the press. A finger (,) is attached to the transfer bar (,) for engaging and transferring work pieces through the press. A proximity sensor (,) is disposed on the finger (,) for sensing the presence of a work piece. In order to establish electrical connection with the sensor (,), an electrical lead is disposed within the hollow transfer bar (,) for connection to the sensor (,). An inline connector (,) electrically interconnects sections (,and,) of the electrical lead within the hollow transfer bar (,) to allow the sections (,and,) to be removed from the hollow transfer bar (,) and disconnected for movement independently from one another. A junction box (,or,) is attached to a support plate (,) and presents an electrical junction (,or,) for attachment to an electrical cable (,). A multiple lead conduit (,) electrically interconnects the block (,) and the junction box (,or,). In all three embodiments, the multiple lead conduit (,) extends from the block (,) in a direction parallel to the transfer bar (,) and extends through a U-turn (,) inside the support plate (,) to the junction box (,or,).
