Abstract
Compositions, medicaments, and methods for the promotion of hair growth are disclosed. These compositions and medicaments are comprised of either local anesthetics of the secondary or tertiary amino type or niacin. The preferred secondary and tertiary amino compounds include those which are esters of para-aminobenzoic acid, esters of benzoic acid, esters of meta-amino benzoic acid, amides, ethers, and ketones. The preferred compositions and medicaments include either procaine hydrochloride or niacin or procaine hydrochloride and niacin in a non-sulfur-containing carrier. The disclosed compositions and medicaments may be topically applied to a scalp in need thereof by an eyedropper or other suitable means. An improved embodiment of this application adds minoxidil.
