Abstract

A locking plate,is provided near the front end of a magnetic disk mounted on a magnetic disk drive to prevent downward sliding movement of a disk holder,. The locking plate is located at a first position between a chassis, and the disk holder to lock the disk holder when no magnetic disk is mounted on the magnetic disk drive. When the magnetic disk is mounted on the magnetic disk drive, the locking plate engages with the front end of the magnetic disk and moves to a second position out of the position between the chassis and the disk holder.
