Abstract

The object of the present invention is to provide an optical device which has obliterated, by the use of a nonlinear optical crystal, the need for a complicated adjustment operation of positions as seen in an optical device used for obtaining an output light having a frequency different from an input light. To be specific, Q switching electrodes,A,,B, phase adjustment electrodes,A,,B and periodic domain inversion part, are disposed in desired parts of path,in an optical crystal, having nonlinear optical character, electro-optical character and laser activity. By the action of an input light P,supplied from an input side,, oscillation light P,is oscillated, harmonic is generated by nonlinear optical character and periodic domain inversion part,, or output light P,having a frequency different from that of input light P,is emitted from output side,by optical parametric oscillation. As a result of changes in voltage between phase adjustment electrodes,A,,B, the refractive index of the corresponding part of the nonlinear crystal,is changed to adjust the oscillation frequency by to total length Lt of path,. By changing voltage between Q switching electrodes,A,,B, a refractive index of slanting intersection of oblique side G of electrode,A and path, can be changed to effect Q switching of oscillation light P
