Abstract

A fragrance delivery system which releases fragrant alcohols upon exposure to light. The system comprises 2-benzoyl benzoates of general formulae ##STR1## which can comprise various subtituents R.sub.1 -R.sub.5 as defined in the application and a substituted R* which is the organic part of a fragrant alcohol.
